F. ID 22-1275 Consider approval of a resolution of the City of Denton affirming the rights of individuals to make private reproductive decisions and deprioritizing use of City resources for investigation or enforcement of laws related to reproductive healthcare; and providing an effective date.
I strongly urge the council to approve F. ID 22-1275 based on human rights. Reproductive freedom is an individual’s decision that the State should have no control over. This is a privacy matter and law enforcement does not have a right to infringe on a human’s privacy to investigate reproductive decisions that are deeply personal. For the sake of human rights, please pass this resolution as a safe haven of hope.
I support this resolution and urge you to approve it. Please think of the many women who will now have to make very difficult and frankly dangerous decisions in regards to their health. No one should be able to make decisions about anyone else’s body. Please allocate resources to places that actually need it, like education.
Denton is a growing city with limited resources. Why spend our limited budget to prioritize the investigation/enforcement of private health decisions? Isn't the money better spent on paying our teachers, law enforcement, and providing them resources?
It also makes logical sense in regards to our city employees’ time and resources. As the city grows, crime will increase as well. Priority should go to protecting us from crimes inflicted by others, our schools safe, and basic infrastructure.
Each individual has the right to their own bodily autonomy and should be able to access/provide reproductive care of any variety without fear of investigation, jail time, or any other repercussions. Life-threatening situations have already taken place as a result of the restriction to abortion access and other life-saving care related to pregnancy. I do not consent to my tax dollars being used to investigate/prosecute anyone for exercising their right to provide/receive reproductive health care.
I fully support this resolution and plead that City Council vote in favor of Council Member Maguire’s resolution as well. So many lives are at stake, please protect the citizens that voted you into office. It’s your jobs to prioritize your constituents and now is the time to do so.
I urge you to vote in favor of council member Maguire's resolution to de-prioritize enforcement of Texas laws which unconstitutionally criminalize abortion. Its a waste of governmental money and resources to attempt to monitor, regulate, and prosecute people in violation of this nonsense law, and any more like it. These medical choices are solely the domain of patients, their doctors, and their deity.
Please support this resolution. This is the least the city can do to support its citizens. in the face of such restrictive and harmful legislation. I support an individuals right to privacy regarding their healthcare
I support this resolution and urge you to approve it. A woman's health care decisions should be private and she should not fear the option to do what is best for herself and her own body.
I support this resolution and encourage the council to do the same. I do not believe that any governmental body should limit a person's choices regarded reproductive health care and access. That is a discussion between the individual and their doctor. Opinions based on a person's religion or non-religious understanding of reproductive care should not impact anyone but themselves. I encourage the city to do what it can to protect the people living in Denton.
Please approve this resolution. People should be able to make decisions about their health care without the governments involvement and fear of repercussions.
Please approve this resolution. Lives are at stake here and people should be able to make decisions about their own body without the interference of government officials. What happens with someone’s medical care is between them and their doctor.
Please approve this resolution. Citizens have the right to make healthcare decisions without fear of prosecution. The government should not be included in the decisions made between doctor and patient.
Please approve this resolution. City money should serve ALL of us. Spending it to criminalize healthcare, the right to privacy and due process negatively impacts everyone and serves only one side of the debate. I reject use of my tax dollars to pay for healthcare criminalization.
Whatever your personal feelings on the matter, remember that you’re supposed to represent our interests — not your own. Focus dollars and energy on items that benefit all of us.
Our nation has been deeply divided over the abortion issue for decades and, unfortunately, that division does not stop at the city limit signs of Denton, Texas
ANY resolutions, whether pro-choice OR pro-life coming from a non=partisan local governing body supposedly representing all citizens serves NO constructive purpose and needlessly polarizes and further divides a local community against itself. We deserve better
Any such resolutions should be promptly rejected
Support all citizen’s right to privacy. This will secure that medical decisions and treatments to be made solely between the doctor and patient. Keep the government and police out of medical offices. Support this amendment.
People will die without reproductive rights and access to proper medical procedures. Please decriminalize abortion in Denton, or more people will die.

The government has no place in a person's private matters and I do not consent to have my tax dollars used to violate human rights.
In support, the government should not have this much control over what people do with their bodies.

I support individuals making private reproductive decisions, not the government, especially city government.
