ID 22-2461 Consider adoption of an ordinance of the City of Denton, a Texas home-rule municipal corporation, authorizing the City Manager to execute a Professional Services Agreement with HDR Architecture, Inc., for assistance in the creation of the Northeast Denton Area Plan on behalf of the City of Denton as set forth in the contract; providing for the expenditure of funds therefor; and providing an effective date (RFQ 8038 - Professional Services Agreement for planning services awarded to HDR Architecture, Inc., in the not-to-exceed amount of $200,000.00).
Please support hiring HDR to bring the NE Denton Small Area Plan to reality. The SAP is much needed to preserve the intentions of the Denton Plan 2040 and the FLUM as dense development encroaches on the area. It will strengthen Denton as a desirable place to live in the future, as well. Thank you.
I support the Northeast Denton Area Plan. This area is unique in its many opportunities for citizens to interact with nature. From the new mountain bike trail to Clear Creek Natural Heritage Center, there is something for everyone. Hiking, fishing or simply viewing wildlife. Let's keep the rural feel of this area so people will have an escape fom the bustle of the city close by.

The NE Denton Small Area Plan that has been proposed by community members would be an asset to Denton. With the progressive development that has recently crowded the roads, increased pollution, and made us much like local neighbors, the SAP could retain the charming character of our hometown. Protecting the environment of this rural area while keeping a habitat that nurtures fresh air, wild animals, and wild flowers that currently thrive, would align with the goals of “Keep Texas Beautiful.”

No one wants the city center to be surrounded by a sea of concrete and asphalt where the only green spaces are the bits and pieces of land that can’t be developed.
