I urge you to disapprove the proposed 2023 Denton CAD budget. Before authorizing a $2.67MM budget increase, the root cause of the District's problems must be addressed. For 2 years in a row, DCAD has failed to timely deliver certified tax rolls. Mismanagement and entrenched policies are to blame, and that falls directly on the Chief Appraiser. The clear message to the DCAD Board is that the Chief Appraiser must be replaced and a new regime installed that embraces fair and equitable practices.
